Founded in 1956 by Dominic Barone, and now proudly in its fourth generation of family ownership, D&R Boats has served generations of boaters with premier brands, expert service, and long-standing customer relationships.

Dominic Barone, a World War II veteran, discovered his passion for boating after purchasing his first boat at the New York Boat Show. Seeing an opportunity, he took a risk and founded D&R Boat World—named after himself and his wife, Ruth—in the mid-1950s. From those humble beginnings, Dominic grew the business into the Top Dealer in the Nation, operating one of the largest and most respected rigging facilities in the industry.

After Dominic’s passing in 2000, leadership transitioned to his sons, Donald and Robert—also the “D” and “R” behind the name. Their attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and drive for success have upheld their father’s legacy and solidified D&R as one of New Jersey’s largest and most trusted multi-branch operations.

D&R Boats, New Jersey’s longest-established and most trusted family-owned and operated marine dealerships, recently acquired the East Dover Marina, a well-known full-service waterfront facility located in Toms River, NJ. This strategic expansion strengthened D&R Boats’ footprint in the state’s thriving marine industry and enhanced its ability to serve boaters across the region.

With this purchase, D&R Boats added a premier marina operation to its portfolio, expanding services beyond sales and maintenance to include dockage, storage, waterfront amenities, and direct access to the Barnegat Bay.
